About the event

Saturday, May 4 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

In this workshop, we’ll dive more deeply into Christiana Morgan’s original creations, from her Tower, to her Vision Journals, and Notes from her analysis with Jung. We’ll begin the workshop by watching a 30-minute documentary about Christiana's Tower on the Marsh by filmmaker and Christiana’s granddaughter, Hilary Morgan, who will be with us live to share and discuss the film.

We’ll also explore the text of Christiana’s never-before-seen notes from her analysis with Jung, and some artwork and content of her original visions stored in the archives at Harvard, about which Jung lectured in his Vision Seminars (1930-34) but which have never been published in their original form. We’ll dive deeper into the symbolic content of her explorations and the work to which she devoted for most of her life, before her tragic end. Some themes that are likely to arise: the journey of individuation in her life and our own lives; the meaning of the “female journey” versus what Jung understood as the male journey; the search for unity between the masculine and the feminine; and the symbolic meaning of images and phrases embedded within her paintings, sketches, and woodcarvings.
