Friday, June 19, 2026 from 7 to 9 PM EDT via Zoom  In this 2023 virtual book launch for Dr. Fanny Brewster’s Race and the Unconscious, Dr. Brewster’s important work is honored through the heartfelt commentary from a range of speakers. Race and the Unconscious “offers readers a rich framework for exploring and understanding the language, images, and symbols of African and African American dreamlife” (Routledge). The book challenges Eurocentric—and at times Jungian—blindness to African values, and examines the effects of this blindness on Black people in the Americas.

Fanny Brewster, PhD is a Jungian analyst, professor at Pacifica Graduate Institute, and the author of The Racial Complex: A Jungian Perspective on Race and Culture. Speakers offering their reflections on the book and on Dr. Brewster’s work include Dr. Allen Proctor of the Haden Institute; Cari Keith of the Spiritual Guild; Andrew Samuels of Routledge; and many others, generating a rich and engaging…
