Are we immersed in a catastrophe? From psychological principles, Jung's exegesis of The Apocalypse describes the collapse of materialist culture with terrifying prescience. The intensity of that collapse is so irresistible that a Congress of 535 angels could not devise legislation to mitigate it. Seeing that we are stuck with the situation, what are we to do? One response is offered by Joanna Macy in Active Hope. The final hours of the life of Thomas Andrews, designer of the Titanic, present a parable of active hope.
