Join Laura Lewis Barr for her stop-motion, fairy tale film, “The Linguist,” based on the Grimm tale, “The 3 Languages” (inspired by Laura’s reading of Marie Louise Von Franz) as she explores the tale’s provocative symbols and how they show up in our lives.

Join Laura Lewis Barr for her stop-motion, fairy tale film, “The Linguist,” based on the Grimm tale, “The 3 Languages” and inspired by Laura’s reading of Marie Louise Von Franz. We will explore the tale’s provocative symbols and how they show up in our lives: a child not living up to a parent’s expectations, learning the language of animals, confronting monsters, discovering treasure, and answering a frightening call. In this workshop, Laura will seek to make these old stories new again by updating the film with hidden symbols, humor, modern tropes, and a female hero.
Attendees can watch the 7-minute film ahead of our time together and we will also watch it together in 3 parts. Our discussion will focus on how the symbols and guidance of the tale might appear in our daily…
